How will persistent memory change software design?

Maciej Maciejewski talks about the main differences between persistent memory, storage devices and standard DRAM. It presents how persistent memory is exposed to the operating system with ACPI 6.0 extensions and describes the resulting changes made upstream to the Linux kernel to provide direct access. It also describes an open source library, known as the NVM library.

Maciej Maciejewski works at Intel Technology Poland, where he deals with software solutions focused on next generation non-volatile memory. He worked at ADVA Optical Networking as Senior Software Manager for 8 years. He led the architectural work of the European ONE project, with a focus on new generation converged IP-optical network management systems.
