NEW YORK, July 20, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Nextiles, a textile manufacturing start-up that combines traditional sewing techniques with circuit boards to create a smart fabric, today announced a new software development kit (SDK) that will allow any existing application to access Nextiles’ software platform and leverage its novel human motion analysis to create custom algorithms and partner-specific metrics. Thanks to its patent-protected manufacturing process, Nextiles smart fabrics enable full biomechanical and biometric detection. Industries such as sleep, sports and performance, and fitness are now able to partner with Nextiles to capture human movement data seamlessly via Bluetooth and create proprietary machine learning algorithms to increase their performance. own existing platforms.

Nextiles was founded in 2018 by George Sun, a seasoned computer scientist and electrical engineer with a doctorate in bioengineering from MIT. Sun has assembled a team to reimagine the future of wearable technology by creating a superior form factor through fabric. Nextiles has developed smart wire technology to capture biometric and biomechanical data using flexible materials and helps partners create custom backends, which produce new information from flexible manufactured products. The fabric is made by blending metallic fibers with traditional fabrics, such as nylon or elastane, to produce pressure, curvature and stretch sensors built into the garments. Forthcoming, Nextiles is also creating fabric biometric sensors for heart rate monitoring and chemical analysis such as sweat. When paired with traditional sensors such as accelerometers and other inertial measurement units (IMUs), Nextiles is able to create a new, holistic data picture for customers spanning a range of industries.

“Instead of taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Nextiles is focused on creating the most comprehensive data capture platform for human movement,” said George Sun, Founder and CEO of Nextiles. “To do this, we needed to create this SDK, allowing software developers in any company to access our platform through industry standard APIs. We have spent years optimizing material science to create our non-textile product offering through our patent protected sewing technology; from now on, any software developer will be able to access our data analyzes with this SDK.

Once the SDK is integrated into a partner’s application, companies will be able to deploy Nextiles sensors specific to their customers’ needs and in a variety of use cases. By capturing these new data sets, Nextiles partners are able to create proprietary algorithms for each use case and personalize information through machine learning. From biomechanics in sports to biometrics such as EMG detection and heart rate, Nextiles has developed a modular platform and can connect to any existing backend with this newly launched SDK.

“We’ve been perfecting our technology with professional athletes for over a year now and have seen strong demand for our data capture solutions in almost every other industry,” said John Peters, Commercial Director of Nextiles. “We know that if this technology can work at the highest levels of sport, we can seamlessly power other data capture experiences in a variety of verticals focused on human movement – sleep, women’s health and more. connected fitness are all industries in which we find early success. This SDK product, coupled with our expertise in materials science and software, provides a holistic solution for our partners to capture, digest and develop custom algorithms that they can own and monetize within their ecosystems.
