Belonging to Publicis Groupe (Euronext Paris Exchange: FR0000130577; CAC 40 index), Publicis Spine was created in 2017 to meet the data, analysis and technology needs of Publicis Groupe agencies and their clients. Its mission is to grow its clients’ businesses through transformative data applications and is home to Publicis Groupe’s proprietary technology platform, Publicis PeopleCloud. It includes a cohesive, transparent and top-notch approach to data, analytics solutions, partnerships and technology through a tightly knit network of engineers, technology experts, product designers, analysts and data scientists, all enabling the marketing and digital transformation of the company.


The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in designing modern web applications to create new functionality and augment existing functionality for our users to generate revenue by running digital advertising campaigns. Daily tasks will include building rich interfaces using semantic HTML5 and CSS3 markup for layout and styling, integrating these interfaces into our modern Single Page Application (SPA) stack which is built using the Angular framework, and wiring them up to JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) APIs provided by our Ruby on Rails microservices. As a Senior Software Engineer at Publicis Spine, you will be responsible for rapidly developing new features and feature enhancements, as well as providing ongoing maintenance to keep the application humming.


In this role, you will lead Publicis Spine’s mission to grow our clients’ businesses through the Data Transformative Application. Your top priorities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Create new features and feature enhancements; contribute to routine maintenance
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our coding style and development processes
  • Adopt strong and agile development practices, including test-driven development, infrastructure as code, and continuous integration and deployment.
  • Design, build, maintain and optimize a modern web application platform for user interaction, data visualization and workflow management.
  • Evaluate and prototype new technologies in the field of web application interfaces, APIs and data management technology.
  • Think quickly, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively with product, engineering, quality assurance and operations teams.


To successfully accelerate and impact business goals in this role, you must bring a fresh perspective with previous experience. Qualification requirements and experience include, but are not limited to:

  • 3 to 5 years of professional development experience, using Ruby and / or JavaScript
  • Extensive experience with one or more mature web applications and building Single Page Applications (SPAs), preferably using Angular
  • Leverage design patterns to create durable and testable code
  • Mastery of object-oriented programming (OOP)
  • Adopt TDD and know when to test pragmatically; experience using Rspec for ruby ​​unit and integration specifications
  • Perfectly familiar with creating HTML5, CSS and DOM tags
  • Experience in creating data visualizations with d3.js or equivalent
  • Experience with relational database systems, data modeling and SQL
  • Comfortable with agile development practices
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation) and strong interpersonal skills
  • High energy level, good team spirit and good work ethic
  • Ability to direct design efforts for product features
  • Experience leading the development work of teams of 2-3 engineers
  • Technical mentoring experience with junior engineers
  • Ability to break down feature requirements into development tasks and estimate effort
  • Ability to review code written by others and provide constructive feedback
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field


  • DevOps experience with AWS
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and advertising
  • Experience in creating complex data visualizations
